Factory Bluetooth unit in 2008

i just bought a 2008 HHR SS recently and after the purchase, I’ve learned 09up oem Head unit has a USB port.

If I get a take off head unit from 09up, would it be a direct swap, plug n play?
No secuty code and such involved?
Will I be able to control music player in my phone through the head unit when it’s connected to the USB port?

My car has the favtory radio/cd, just Aux port, no USB.
it also has ON star. (I really don’t used instant, though. I’m in my free 3 months trial since I bought my car from a Chevy dealer)

If it would be an easy plug n play swap, I’d like to do it.... (no plans to get an aftermarket unit...I like to keep it stock.)

does anyone here have a take of unit laying around that you wanna sell?

Thank you in advance.

There will be a security code and you will have to have the VIN from the donor car. You’re gonna have to get either the dealership or a shop with a scanner to code the radio to your SS.
The UAsB ports have been know to break so I’d simply stay with what you have.

thank you for your input.
Sounds like too much trouble for a slight change. I’d stick with what I’ve got as you suggested. 👍
Bluetooth is just one of those “nice to have” but not “must have” for me.
Heck I enjoy driving my SS so much that I would wanna be bothered by a phone call. Lol

Why is the title about bluetooth and the question is about USB?

Here is the first result from a search of "usb port" set to ALL.

Bluetooth is with the OnStar system not the radio or USB port.
Shut the radio off, go for a drive and listen to your engine, turbo and exhaust nites!
Much more invigorating then Van Halen!
