GPS recommendations
I went with a Kenwood DNX-6190HD which also includes FM HD. Nice unit with some quirks (minor ie power button doesn't light up in the dark), but this one has a Garmin based nav unit which is fairly easy to use. The sound is good (also replaced all the door speakers), but needs a sub woofer to complete the system(sound Ordance under seat unit on its way)..
Started with a Magellan, 7" in the upper box, fit perfect with a mound, great to use it was at eye level. Switched to Alpine 910bt, runs Navtech, works and sounds great, liked the upper positon better because it was easy to glance at while driving, but this thing does so many things well.

to the forum Cedavis81!While there are threads here on "In Dash" GPS units, most of them are a few years old, and with updates in technology etc., the units are all obsolete.
While you don't have to buy from them, the folks at Crutchfield have some good choices and the proper GM LAN wiring harness adapters, along with really good tech assistance.

SS fan(Sam), does have a good point, if you rely on your GPS, mounting it on top of the dash will make it easier to use while driving, if you only need it on occasion....the in dash setups bring the benefit of better audio etc.
