Harness for sub?

I don't have the factory Pioneer Sub in the rear, but was wondering if the harness is installed from the factory so as to install the sub?

Thanks in advance!

No, it is not. There are 3 separate audio systems for the HHR, each has it's own harness. If you did not order the sub, there is no harness for one in your HHR. Best bet is to add a line converter and aftermarket amp/sub, or just move to a whole new aftermarket stereo system.

Hope it helps,

Mike, does this mean if I get a OEM 6-disc changer, it will not replace my single disc changer?

I believe the 6-disc can swap right in for a 1-disc Mike (it needs to be flashed to work though), but the harness for the rear sub amp and speaker wiring is just not in the car. If you put a "Premium" stereo head in your rig, you would not have wiring to run to the sub amp etc. The Premuim system also routes speaker wires differently than the non-premium systems.

Hope it helps,

The 6 disc will swap just like Mike said...been there and done that...but if car is not equipped with cargo area sub wiring, it will work just like the other one, except you'll be able to load 6 discs instead of one. That's what I did with mine and I love it.

GDZHHR,

One piece of advice: Call around to several dealers to get quotes for the flash. I called both dealers that are convenient to me and they quoted $39.95 over the phone. When I got to my "preferred" dealer yesterday am, the service rep said that will be $79.95. I told him that I had gotten a quote of $39.95 over the phone and he immediately said he would match it. Having several quotes will let you bring marketplace competiton into the equation.

I upgraded from the base 1 disc system to the 1 disc system that has mp3 capability. Definite improvement Good luck with your upgrade

Has anyone just up graded all the speakers? I like my system but would like to get it to sound a little better. Also would it help if I added an amplifier? As you see I pretty much in the dark. So any help short of a complete new multi dollar system would help.

See ya down the road.

I think if you add an amp to the oem radio the door chimes will get amplified as well.

If I am not mistaken, GDZHHR did change out his speakers and he's run into a problem...but not sure if it's the speakers or loose roof antenna. I also believe that CH did a speaker install on his, complete with photos. I will go find that thread and add a link to this post when I find. it and edit this message.

Edit: I did some searching and can't find it...among the missing at the moment. Hopefully CH can enlighten us on this.

I replaced the 4 door speakers (not the tweeter) in my premium system and got much better sound. Now that Metra has their interface, I will soon change my head unit and add a better sub/amp.
