Headrest speakers
Headrest speakers
This is what it will look like before you put the cover back on
Now reinstall the cover. It takes a good deal of effort. Don’t be afraid to pull and tug when necessary. The fabric cover is really tough
A II done to this point, beleive it or not the sound comes through the cover just fine
Now reinstall, you must remove the plastic backs of the seats to run the speaker wiring. I have the Pioneer amp in the rear so that is where I tapped in for the speakers
A good number of newer cars offer headrest speakers. I thought I would see what I could do with an HHR.. It wasn’t easy but not the most difficult thing I have done. It sound awesome. It was worth the effort
You need to remove the headrest and remove the fabric cover, then bore a 3 inch hole
Once you bore the hole you can fit the speakers Make sure the hole is deep enough
Once you have the foam bored out you must then drill small holes in the tubes for the speaker wiring, then snake the wire down each of the tubes
in the foam
Each headrest has a right and left speaker, so you can balance them side to side. I also have a dual linear stereo volume control for each pair of speakers
which allows the pair of speaker to be isolated from each other but the volume control works on both speaker simultaneously.
I wired mine to the rear channels so you could fade it to the rear if desired, just a matter of preference, you could wire to the fronts if you like
