how to bypass onstar

I have a 2008 HHR with the base model headunit, remote start and Onstar. I am wanting to bypass my onstar all together and install a aftermarket headunit. I dont want to spend the money on the adapter, I dont care if I lose the onstar but I dont want my remote start or remote door locks to be disabled, does anyone know if these are tied in. what functions will I lose by bypassing onstar and has anyone done this? thanks for your tips.

Your remote functions go through the RCDLR module (remote control door lock receiver). XM radio is the only option that needs the Onstar antenna.
