Looking for XM ID Code

New here, will be getting an 2008 HHR Panel for my job. I cannot find anywhere in the service manual on how to find the XM code, it says it's there but how do I find it to subscribe. It has the onstar and cell setup but I don't think it's turned on. There is a cd to listen to but I cannot hear it too well.

Right now I am using am XM portable with a dock for my two other cars and home dock. I would like to see if I can use the installed radio so I don't have to worry about any docking, etc...
Thanks in advance for your help,
Ron

When you get the HHR get to the XM band get station 0 and the XM radio will show.

Ok, I looked on the radio and cannot get the channels, when I press Cat and get XM Feature. Cannot get into the channel line up or channel 0, when I press tuner up and down it'll jump back to the radio mode. Anything else I need to do or look for?
I do have 2 other portable XM radios and know how to get the ID code to activate them. Just don't know how to get the id code in the HHR.
New technology is the pits when trying to figure it out, maybe I should get my kids to do it...
Thanks,
Ron

Are you sure that your car came with XM? XM was not a standard feature, I do think that it will be for 09's though.

Did you press the band button to get to the XM band? I believe the CAT button only works after the radio is in XM.

I can check and see if your vehicle is XM ready if you give me the last 6 of your VIN.

I went to the dealer when I got the oil change and they said it did not have the XM option even though the radio said XM Feature.
It'll cost me $400.00 to have it installed. Is there a cheaper kit I can install myself. This is a company car and I don't want to buy anything for it, nor do I want to run my existing xm radio cables and radio on the dash.
Thanks,
Ron

Ya its an accessory module that plugs into your radio harness and mounts behind your dash and new onstar antenna that has an xm antenna in it. And I think they have to run an extra wire for the new antenna through the A-Pillar and up under the headliner. I had this done on my 07 cobalt that i used to have. They do have aftermarket kits that do the same thing but everyone I talk to that installs them were I live wont do it because they have a lot of comebacks with the module loosing signal or programming and having to reactivate the radio all the time. My factory accessory kit worked just fine though.

Hate to resurrect a 5 yr old thread but trying to figure this thing out. 2008 LT, I push the CAT button and it shows XM. When I push the band button all I see is AM & FM. Thx for any help.
