Ok, let's say I take out the stock radio...

from a 2007 HHR. The cd player one (not mp3 or cd changer). Now, how/where can I get a module to make all the dashboard info etc. work? As it is now, all of the vital information, such as MPH, gas, RPM, airbag, etc. won't report to the display. Of course, that's the least of the worries right now because it's got Passkey and it won't start now! Hooray. Luckily I have other vehicles I can drive...

This is my question... Can someone point me in the right direction on where to look for a module for this? I've heard several things, such as a t-connector type of one, where one end plugs into the factory stereo, one into the new head unit, and one into the old factory plugs. Also, can I just rewire my old factory stereo up and be able to start my car? Low voltage electrical wiring is what I do all day for work, so any technical information would be appreciated. So, anyone, websites where I can find some of these modules? Thanks.

Is that what I need to get? Have to make sure it's gonna fix the problem before I drop 100+ bucks on it...

That's it. Either that or the LAN-3, I can't keep them straight. It depends on which unit you started with.

A couple companies make them now.

I have the absolute most stock radio I think... it'll play CDs but not MP3s, and it has an Aux jack on the front. Definitely not the premium sound system or anything. It seems that the GMOS3 would be the one I need. There's no other parts or anything I need to get for the dashboard/car to work right with the new head unit?

You will need a dash insert to actually install the head unit.

Didn't someone say the OEM radios need to be reprogrammed, by the dealer, if they are switched between vehicles??? Something about software, VIN, identification?

Edit....disregard...read it as trading OEM radios..doesn't say that.

Yea, I actually have the aftermarket radio installed right now, with a metra dash kit. It looks good and all, but I prefer a car that, you know, runs. Ok, so I'm ordering a GMOS3, and hope it gets here fast.

That should take care of it. But I know others here who've hard-wired it and their cars still started. Might something else new to the 07's.

Hope ya get it worked out.

maybe you did not hardwire it correctly, which is the case the majority of the time. you can also use the American International GMS04B
