Rear door speakers inop

No sound rear door speakers. Rear speaker woofer is muffled. Do i have a broken wire or is there a fuse for a separate amplifier. Front door and pillar tweeters are working. Any ideas would be helpful. The HHR is a 2009 2LT.

You most likely have dead speakers, I suggest you replace all four of the door speakers first.

1st thing I would check would be the front -rear Fader adjustment on the radio.

I had the same problem and went to the audio store and was told my rear speakers were bad. I thought it was strange both speakers going out at the same time. But alas, that is exactly what the problem was. Replaced speakers now good as new.

Did the sound to the woofer improve?

The woofer isn't tied directly to the rear door speakers, It's on its own circuit and has its own amp. But... with the rear door speakers operating properly the woofer may "seem" improved to the human ear..

Woofers do not have a clear sound. That being said, it's a small woofer, so it could be blown. But the amp is not all that powerful either, so it's hard to say.
