Stock head unit issues

I use the aux input for my iPod daily and now it seems like the input port has a short in it.

If I'm listening to the radio without my iPod plugged in it will occasionally crackle and then swap to the aux input as if I had plugged in the cable.

Would this be something the dealer would fix or not?

It may be a pain to get them to because it doesn't happen consistently.

The dealer most likely will just swap out the entire unit.
Now getting them to recognize the problem?
Whining and moaning sometimes helps.
