Swapping out head unit

Just bought NG's head unit :D

So, in a few days I'll be swapping head units. My unit = base unit AM/FM single CD; his unit = AM/FM single CD + mp3.

I'm hoping that this will just be a "plug and play" mod

Any advice/directions gratefully accepted

P.S. anyone want to buy a base head unit?

can you take a pic of your base unit? I thought there was only two units on the HHR, one single disc unit and the other the 6-cd unit.

Nope, according to GM, there are 3 audio "options" http://www.chevrolet.com/hhr/features/

2 diff single disc units: base only plays CD (standard on LS), upgraded plays CD + mp3 discs (standard on 1LT & 2LT)

The 6 disc changer is strictly an option

in that case your player should be plug and play. If it doesnt work after plugging in the radio you might need to take it to the dealer to get it programmed.

You'll have to take it to the dealer to have it reprogrammed. I bought another members 6 disc to replace my stock radio and when I had it all put in and turned it on, it said "Locked" Called Mike at SoCalHHR's and he said it had to be reprogrammed at the dealer...but it shouldn't cost too much to have it done. Well...no one told my dealer that...they charged me $99 to do it. You might want to call the dealers around you and see what they will charge to do it. :thumb:
