Swapping radio
I purchased this from Amazon, Android 13 [2G+64G] Car Radio for... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D39QQBXJ?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I assumed it was plug and play, however it is not turning on. I’m not sure if I need to tap it into a fuse for power. |
You need to either tap into a switched fuse (any of the unused places on the BDM) and lose the turn signal and other chimes or, get a GMlan adapter.

Look at Crutchfield website for instructions to adapt to aftermarket radio.

The original radio has constant power for the memory and is turned on by a digital signal from the BCM.
The directions that came with the adapter should explain how to hook it up. I The chimes come from a digital signal from the BCM. I think the pin marked ACC should go to a switched source. The ANT is the pink wire on the stock radio, it powers the antenna amp. Any of the "not used" fuse positions on the BCM are switched via the RAP relay, so they stay on until the driver door is closed. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...1e4beb115a.png |

The directions are in the Amazon link you provided. Note the three dots at the bottom, they are more pages.
If the module provided is a GMLan adapter it needs the LAN and constant power connected to it It is not a matter of available amperage. The LAN tells the module to turn the radio on and the chimes. Not a "car" problem it is a computer network problem. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...bc31435c08.png https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...28d2c4a286.png https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...1465808d00.png https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...ff0b590af3.png |

I got no idea. The reviews seem to say it was an easy install.
I suspect that the "8 pin connector for canbus" is the key to turning it on. CANBUS is the computer network. |
