Swapping radio
I put my aftermarket radio on a separate switch, along with amplifiers and other stuff, many years ago. I have not missed the chimes one bit. Avoids the somewhat costly adapter kit and possibility of wiring it up incorrectly. It also let's you only turn on the device you want without having to put the key into ignition which also drains the battery more due to the car computer stuff. That's the route I would go.
The main question is: do you need chimes that much?

The chimes are needed more than you think. There is around 50 or so functions that utilize the chimes as a warning.
From turn signal clicks, to door ajar, headlight switch left on etc.,etc.
Key left in ignition, low fuel, parking brake on, etc.
I know I want my chimes working.
