Is the a way to have the steering wheel controls work on an aftermarket pioneer radio?

Check at Crutchfield.com for the correct wiring harness adapter.

Sure. You just need to get the correct adapter. Been discussed numerous times over the years on these forums. The most mentioned reference is to contact Crutchfield for the correct adapters to go with your model radio.

I got this one from eBay, it said it retains steering wheel controls but it does not. I did look through our forum but couldn't find any information about it. I did go to crutchfield's it's like pulling teeth to find where the units are, finally I found it but I'm unsure of which one I need any help would greatly be appreciated.

This is the information pertaining to the adapter I bought. The chimes and the directional signals will make their sounds but just steering wheel control does not work

If you didn't get directions with it, I would go to the scosche website and get one, or the crutchfield site (to be a broken record).

Maybe GoOgle "scosche gm25 instructions" or other terms as required.

The one with the audio plug is needed.

I have the directions, and follow them to a tee. The controls do not work. I messaged the seller and he says that they don't work on an HHR. Have you ever heard that before?
This particular module is not available anymore on crutchfields.

The scosche page for this product has a compatibility list, HHR is not on the list. Find something that is compatible.

Go to Metraonline.com. That's the harness and kit that works best for these cars. I installed my Pioneer radio and added a steering wheel with buttons with little issue.
