I'm partial to JL for subs and amps. 1 10W3 hit harder than 2 12W6's and a 10W6. I have 2 10W3's waiting to go in, unless I change my mind and go with a 13W3. For the doors, I like MB Quart, but some complain that they are brassy. Boston Pros are a nice, neutral sound.

Well, what IS the price range you're willing to spend?
Do you have the pioneer system? Maybe someone who knows more about the HHR stereo can help, but have you considered a sound processor for the stock speakers? That could save you some money on the whole set up?
Im partial to Polk's, but in all honesty most people who have been around car audio long enough all choose a favorite brand and tend to stick with it.

I really hate the stock speakers in the pioneer upgraded system. I replaced everything with JL and added 2 amps where the storage tray is in the back. Everything sounds much better now.

You may need an adapter for the door speakers depending on what you are trying to replace them with. I got mine off Amazon. I bought 6.5" and the doors are 6.75" ( I have CRS, so I could be wrong on the sizes ). Crutchfield is a great tool for that type of info.

I have two 12's mounted in a box on top of my spare tire. I lost around 2 inches of floor height. There is pics of my install in the sub gallery or heres a link to my photobucket album. http://s244.photobucket.com/albums/gg34/hugheshhr/HHR/ For door speakers theres a thousand choices. I recommend Hertz Dieci entry level line. They sound amazing off HU power. They have wonderful midbass and the tweeters are smooth and detailed. If you decide to amp them Id use the Hi-energy series from Hertz they like power, but you also get even more detail and better low end output. I've also learned from experience the doors on these vehicles need to be deadened and sealed up to sound real good. I have 3-4 layers of deadening over the whole door and door card, and sheet metal over the big voids in the doors. The deadening will make a night and day difference. There is other brands of speakers that sound good. I prefer to amp MB Quartz, Mtx sound alright off HU. The best thing is to just goto a reputable dealer and just listen to what they have. Take a couple cd's that you listen to and compare. But I'm partial to the Hertz stuff.:one: LOL. If they didnt sound good they wouldnt be in my car for competitions. :D:D
