XM question

If this goes unanswered, I'm sure I'll figure it out on my own when I go to do the install. Will the factory XM unit hook up to an aftermarket Pioneer AVIC h/u?

I wouldn't think so. I have a pioneer also and used a pioneer xm receiver.
I think the only way you can hook up xm and use the radio to control it is use thier tuner. It uses the blue square plug on the back. Mine works great.

I know what they use. I did the setup in my Colorado. I didn't know if the stock XM box had the same hookup. Do you know if the same antenna will work??

I don't know if you could make an adapter plug to work with the stock tuner. The question is will the pioneer radio know its there and if you would get the right signals for it to work correctly. The stock antenna would work, but you need to make a connector for it I think. Some where on here a long time ago someone did it but it was early on. (06 or so)

XM has a receiver box usually. The antenna runs into it and the the box is wired to the HU. What would be perfect is is the XM antenna cablewas the same as then antenna that comes with the aftermarket XM box

If anyone was interested in this, I have an aftermarket setup with the stock XM antenna. I had to use the Pioneer XM box. I installed the box where the stock XM box was. The antenna plastic plug is different, but if you clip the tabs, it will plug in and function correctly with the Pioneer box.
