I have recently acquired an 09 with a Pioneer Double Din AVH-210EX. The car has the exterior antenna for XM radio. I want to transfer my current XM subscription over to my HHR. What else do I need?
A call to XM customer service? Does the HHR have the XM receiver? If so, is it connected to the head unit? Are you sure it is a XM antenna, not an OnStar only antenna?
Some cars have a OnStar only shark fin. One has a short mast, I don't recall which one that is.
Look under the passenger side rear quarter panel for the OnStar and XM modules.
U2K on the glovebox sticker indicates XM, UE1 is for OnStar. You might have both or only one.
Is there a "Band" button on the HU?
This link might tell you something VIN Lookup - SiriusXM Radio
If the the HU has Sirius XM capability it should show up in the menus but you should be able to google the model and learn that way too. If so, then if it’s connected to a suitable antenna you’ll get the default station that babbles about the virtues of Sirius XM.
You could check the RPO sticker in the glove box.
For 2008, U2K is “XM Satellite Radio” and there are like 10 OnStar codes, but the easiest to look for might be UE0 “OnStar, delete.”
But 2009 might be different. This post has a list for 2009 but doesn’t seem to cover OnStar and the description for U2K is different, “Digital Audio System - S-Band.” https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/gene...e2/#post298059
I got sick of paying for EACH SXM radio, so I have one subscription in my wife's car, and use the Sirius/XM app on my phone and use bluetooth or Android Auto to listen everywhere else.
