Cutting springs

What about just cutting down the springs to get a lower stance? We seemed to do that a lot in years past. Now all I hear is people buying new ones. Not really wanting to spend the $ but I would like to lower the rear on my SS about 1 inch.Anyone got some opinions to share on this?

You can't........ Look at a set of HHR springs, the coils are smaller at each end so cutting isn't an option. It would mess with the progressive rate also, even if it were possible it would mess up the handling.

But they don't drop 1" like the OP is looking for...... Just sayin' ;) (I know you guys sell them and that's cool :thumb:)

Any of the aftermarket springs or GM Cobalt SS springs are going to be safer than trying to modify stock springs and they all have merits.... Just depends on how low you want to go. :skull:

Sagg the springs with a torch.

You can heat the springs with a torch a on one end. This is an old school way to lower your car. I would do it with the springs off the car.
