Drum brake conversion
Is it possible to convert the drum breaks to disc brakes on my 2010 hhr lt. And what stuff will be needed other than the obvious calipers rotors and pads

Welcome. Guess you're talking a HHR ? You didn't include the year and model so I'm just making sure.

Easiest way is to get a Cobalt axle beam with disc brakes. Then a E-brake cable that will work.

Welcome Zachary, send a PM to hellshotrod, he had a conversation kit that bolts on to your LS / LT rear axle at the hub mounting studs.

Cobalt SS rear end, rotors, calipers, brackets w/hardware, brake lines, e-brake cables.
While your at it replace the springs with the cobalt ones for a much smoother ride and minor lowering of rear of car. The conversion took me 2 days by myself and that included many breaks. It can be done in 1 day. See post #2 for more info and enjoy. |

Resurrecting a thread here. Just for the info, if doing this conversion, wouldn't one also need the master cylinder since you're going from drum to disc?

Yes, No, and Maybe... Guys have kept the stock master cylinder and had no issues... Proportioning seems to be correct. Could you do that, yes... Should you? It may not be necessary in this case... |
:lol: Clear cut as mud. Maybe a separate proportioning valve could be plumbed in if someone had a problem.
