drums opinion

Its time for me to change out the shoes and drums on my 2008. Just wondering if there are any differences to drums out there?
I saw these two ACDELCO drums on RockAuto and they're a decent price. Does it matter which one to get or they basically the same? (just painted vs non-painted)
Unless someone has different recommendations...

#1. $77 each More Information for ACDELCO 18B569

#2. $88 each More Information for ACDELCO 1770989

OR
these Raybestos drums
#3. $68 sold in pairs More Information for RAYBESTOS 9774R

I like using OEM for stock replacements but in this case I think Raybestos is a good product also and a lot less money. Check on the Warranty before you commit.
Did you notice the slight difference in the AC Delco drums other then the price and paint?
Not sure why or if it matters any.
Did you compare a GM parts discounter for Genuine Chevrolet parts instead of AC Delco?
That could make a difference in the pricing.

Not sure of the differences, im thinking its just one is painted which is why its a bit more money. The Raybestos is a good deal especially that you get TWO for that price. Just dont want to regret it in the long run not goig with delco.

Raybestos Brake Company was founded in 1902.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raybestos

Their headquarters is located in McHenry IL, not very far from my home. That fact is not critical to this post. Just an obscure, interesting note!

For over 20 years, while owning an auto & truck repair shop, I used Raybestos brake parts many times along with Wagner and some other brands.

I do not recall ever having an issue with a Raybestos product.

My experience and opinion.

It's entirely possible the Raybestos and AC Delco are one and the same supplier. Just a different name on the box

Most braking is done with the front disc and very little with the rear drums. Your rear brake shoes may still be ok. But I would just pick up from a local auto parts to save on shipping cost.

Raybestos for me, either branded as Raybestos, or you can buy the same psrts branded as Napa "Heavy Duty".

The big deal is manually adjusting your rear brakes every 5,000 miles, or at every oil change, the "self adjusters" on HHR rear drum brakes have proven themselves to be marginally to totally ineffective.

I fully agree with the adjusting of the rear drum brakes! 2 or 3 clicks of the star wheel on the adjuster and a quick shot of brake cleaner spray on the shoe braking surface and the inside of the drum every 5,000 miles or 8046.72 kilometres and your good to go!
I changed my rear shoes at 200,000 kilometres or 124,274.238447 miles, just cause I thought the shoes were getting thin.
But the brake drums are original factory's

Oh, geez I've been sucked back in.

You don't even want to know where Raybestos branded parts really come from. The company headquarters might be in IL, but find the factory that casts and machines the iron.

Almost all cast iron and steel sold in the USA comes from "the EAST". Drive past any international seaport and look at the piles of ground up "waste" iron waiting to be loaded onto freighters with ideograms on the bows.
