Anyone installed front sway bar bushings before. And can you give me an idea of what needs to be done to change them. I Have replaced the sway bar links due to a knock in the front in which helped alot but there is still a clunking going over bumps which I believe is these. I have the parts just waiting on the more insight before I tackle the job.

 

I went through the same routine. replaced 1 link which helped but when I had the sway bar bushings replaced the clunk totally went away. No more clunking!!!

 

I guess I am confused where the bushing goes. Its separate from the end link?

Look behind and below the motor....follow the bar and you will see them

 

Question is is how do you get them out?

 

Two bolts thru a U shaped bracket that attach to the frame. The flat side in the picture you show goes against the frame.

Look under the car, the bar that goes from side to side. You will see them, the bracket and the bolts.

 

You are looking at part #5, the clamp bolts and nuts are tightened to 37ft/lbs. Cut line of the insulators face rearwards.

 

I don't have a floor jack or jack stands but I do have some ramps.

I borrowed this picture from someone else on this site. Would I be able to replace the sway bar bushings with the car up on these ramps? or would I have to jack the car up and remove the wheels to release pressure on the sway bar? When I changed my links I had to use my jack and the jack from my wife's van, but it was a pain in the ass taking both wheels off and spending forever with the stock jacks that come with cars these days.

 

Crawling around under a car that's on factory jacks is a "less than safe" idea..... Those things aren't very stable.

 

Right...I didn't have to for the end links, but there is no away around it for the bushings.

EDIT: Meaning I have to find some way to lift it safely since I have to get under there.
