Was the old one too worn to compare? I am working on the same project. How are you going to press it in/out? I can't find a loaner tool at a store, and I do not want to beat on it. However, Check RockAuto.com out for the entire control arm at a reasonable cost ($70 about) when you think about it $13 for bushing $25 for ball joint $45 labor (DIY price), seems like a good deal. Tomorrow I expect my control arm to be delivered, I can tell you then.

ok, good luck tomorrow....let me know the bushing orientation. i dont have the bushings out yet but can tell ya that there is play in the bushings when i grab the rear of the control arm and move it...would be nice if, in the box, they included some instructions. after i pull the control arm, i've got a mechanic friend with a press. just have to make double sure that he's got the proper pressure rings for this size bushing. also, have to be careful considering that i've got aluminum arms(cast, i believe) and dont want to crack them.....thank you.

And to install the new bushings, some redi-rod, nuts for the redi-rod, a few big washers, sockets and some lube should do it to insert the new bushing. Or have your friend do it, and not even get your hands dirty ;)

The rib on my control arm busings are down (on the bottom of the control arm)

Those bushings are super tight. I tried a vise and that didn't work. I work at a bicycle shop and happened to have a BMX peg the same diameter as the bushing. A few whacks with a sledge made for quick work.

I just got the new control arm opened up. The bushing in it has no ribbed side. Even tho I did not look closely at the OE one when I had it out last week, I don't think it had a ribbed side. Mine is FE1. I think that the after market bushings must be FE3, as they are very different design.

However, I just looked again and there is a small "pip" on the bottom side (facing the road).

I did this about 6 months ago. I a small saw and took out the old ones and had the new ones pressed in at a local shop for $5. They had huge press and it only took them 2 minutes each.

Good luck

Quick question. I too in need of replacing the rear bushing on the control arm on the right side. Its my Wife's 07 HHR LT, 2.4 engine. Now How do I go about figuring out if the bushings are FE1 or FE3 and does it make any difference.?
