LCA suggestions and sway bushings
LCA suggestions and sway bushings
is it wise to swap the whole arm or just do the bushings?
I have an LS but I do have the fe5 suspension on (springs/struts etc) but will the SS lca fit on an LS?
what size are the bushings for them?
suggestions on where to get them? should i go factory or get Powell ones?
for the sway bar, im thinking of replacing the bushings...lots of people on here suggest the energy ones..but for those who have them, how are they holding up? are they really that different from Moog? whats all the love for the energy for?
thanks

ditto - sorry skyline26, please don't be offended (really, please don't), cause we do enjoy having you here, but this has been totally discussed to death. There are threads after threads about the LCA's and the pros and cons of the bushings vrs complete LCA's, and feedback galore over the usage of the various bushings. There are full informative threads on the re and re of the LCA's as well as the bushings, where to buy them etc..
The mods here are trying to help, but we are getting rather overloaded and frustrated with the same questions over and over, which essentially results in us doing all the legwork in finding and posting links for people. How do we find the links? Nope, it isn't our incredible memories at work - its the use of the search tool and our spending anywhere between 5 mins to a half hour compiling the info for a reply to the post.
In the past the search tool was - lets say "a piece of carp"
- but the new one is fantastic. Give it a go and I am sure you will find it most helpful - and much quicker than trying to wade thru the various opinions that people responding to this thread will contribute.
Check it out and let us know how you go on those bushings.

i understand guys...reason i asked is that, yes, i see multiple questions on the same subject, but i couldnt find anything on why the SS lca is different from the LS or LT, why it wont fit etc..same thing goes for the Energy parts, everyone says the used them/they like them but again there is no reason WHY and how they are holding up...maybe im not entering the right "words" in the search for it to come up.
ill keep looking
ill keep looking
ahh i see thanks Don...now with that info i found that the balljoint is bigger and wont connect to the Ls/Lt knuckle, is it possible to change the knuckle so that it fits for the SS part? would there be any gain doing this or should i just stick with factory specs?
I think it's FE3 by now, I don't know that you can buy FE1 replacement parts. I have replaced the complete struts and rear shocks. I don't even know if there is an actual difference, maybe that's why early LTs had different size sway bars? Interesting that the SS is the smaller size, seems counter-intuitive.
Yeah donbrew - I've wondered why the difference too. If the SS sits lower than the LT, that might explain the difference as the smaller bar would be just as effective on a lower vehicle?
