Lowering facilities in Riverside, CA?
Want to lower my 08 Panel with Goldlines at all four corners, and although the rear looks relatively easy, I have to admit that the front kind of intimidates me (plus I don't have an impact wrench and worry about being strong enough to disassemble it by brute strength). Therefore, does anybody know of, or have experience with, a shop in the Riverside, CA area that can/will do it?

one way to do this easily it is to take off the front struts, take both sest of springs and the strut to a shock place and they can use a strut tamer and remove the stock spring and put on your goldlines.
usually charge 35 to 50 for 2 struts. you go back and just put the struts back on done saves a ton of time and effort, especially time and grunt work. you can call around and get a quote on doing that before you go. |
If you still need help with this, I'm not an expert but I have lowered a few cars including my own HHR recently. Its not really difficult at all as long as you have the right tools. I can help you if you want to bring it by. Bet you'll have to get the alignment done on your own.

most shops can do this work, especially if the word "shock" is painted on the building somewhere. I was quoted $125.00 to change out the springs. thats really pretty good for them doing everything... I know CA is a lot more expensive than TN but you really shouldn't pay more than two bills for this, especially if your providing the parts.

cost to install springa
I paid $200.00 here in Hemet 2 and a half years ago did not need aligment still tracks great.

I lowered my HHR myself(have the tools needed to do this), not to hard of a task. You will need to buy a set of the camber bolts so it can be aligned after it is lowered otherwise if you dont get it aligned it will eat your tires up.

Thanks to all who replied, but after the encouragement of everyone here I went ahead and did it myself (and managed to do it without hurting myself!). I was really only concerned with compressing the springs in front, as I had visions of the compressor slipping-off and the springs taking my front teeth out. But ultimately, no worries!

Put some pics up. I wanna see how yours came out. Perhaps I'll switch from eibach if it looks better. Maybe I can check it out sometime, I live in Riverside too.
