Moog end link grease nipple fittings
I am about to put in a set of Moog end links while I put my summer wheels/tires on. I bought the things a while ago and lost the instructions....in the package are, of course, the nut as well as a small metal nipple that I assume goes on the back of the link for injecting grease. I tried to put them in only to realize that the holes the nipples go into are not threaded and the nipples are.
Does that make sense? How do I put the nipples on? I know several of you have put on the Moog replacements and I am eager to stop the clunking...

Yep they zerks are self tapping. I bought the moogs also, I have 70k on mine and they have been noisy for about 40k. It looked like an easy job, but i couldn't get the stock ones off. The stud was just spinning with the nut, i messed with it for awhile... then I had a local shop install them for 50.00. They even had a hell of time getting them off. Nice and quiet now, Good luck, maybe soaking the nuts with some wd40 before hand would help.

Hi. I'm sorry to belabor the point but I am not up on mechanics very much so perhaps you can straighten me out. My HHR sounds like its a horse drawn wagon doing down a dirt road, lots of squeeks and groaning. Oh by the way my HHR currently has 55,500 miles on it. There are threads discussing front sway bar bushings and stabilizer link bars (with end links), each with discussions of greaseable fittings. Are these both the same? What do I need to change. I believe my mechanic replaced the drivers side strut because it was leaking about 6 months ago. My fiancee says its coming from her side of the car. I really dont care how much money I spend ... what can I do to get the noise to go away. Thanks John

It is actually really easy to replace these bad boys. But if someone will do both of them for 50 total I would say let them. Figure about 70 bucks and hour and about a half hour each side so you will be ahead like 20 bucks. Getting the old ones off is easy with a pair of vice grips and a ratchet 5/8 inch maybe??? I already forgot. If you are trashing the old sway bar end links then you really don't have to worry about trashing them. The easy way would be to push the rubber boot back on the link behind the mount itself and grip it with vice grips. You ratchet should be able to remove the nut without spinning the bolt. The second solution would be to hack saw the bolt itself. it is at a weird angle for a hacksaw however and the bolt is fairly hardened steel so I would not recommend.
As far as the nipples, yes they self tap. Not sure if I did it right but I injected just enough grease to the point where it was just about squirting out. About ten pulls on the mini grease gun.

Grease?
I will hopefully be doing my front end this weekend. What's the recommended grease for the suspension? Does anyone have any preference on brands, or just a certain type of grease? Thanks for the replies

I just use farm equipment/heavy duty grease.
