Need help with shorter struts.

Lowered my car with the eibach pro kit. Rear looked great but front was still high for me. Cut a little off the coil but my it is right at the bump stop. Are there any crosses to a cobalt or what are my options for shorter struts? TIA

No options for shorter struts. Sounds like you lowered it too much by cutting the springs. If it lowered it more than 2 inches from the original height, I could see where the struts could bottom out easily.
Cutting the coil probably altered the spring rate too.

Coilovers would be the next step if lowering springs didn't drop it enough for your taste.

What year and model do you have ? Also, what tire/rim size do you have ? Some with the 16" tire set up just don't look as low because of the visual of the smaller tire.
This is my SS lowered 1.5 inches all around. Stock 18" tires and rims.

2007 LT with factory 17's. Mine sits close to yours in the front but is on the stops. I was hoping an ss strut or maybe a cobat could cross over

It's on the bump stop cause you cut the coil.

Will fe5 ss struts from a 2009 fit and if so will they lower the car any from stock? Having a hard time finding specs.

Oldblue 09-26-2016 06:52 PM

They will fit but won't lower it any more.

Not looking to go lower just want to match the rear. I have about 1.5 to 2 inches of wheel gap.

Just a thought, did you cut the bumper on the strut?

I am going to check my strut #'s. They seem to be a universal from side to side and I am wondering if they are wrong. I just bought the car used. It just seems odd to lower the car 1 inch and have no travel. No I did not cut the bump stops.

The "Throw" of the shock absorbers is only a couple of inches. If you cut the springs you are out of "throw".

The springs job is to hold the tire on the ground while leaving enough throw for the shock to be absorbed.
