OK, so about a7-8 months ago I replaced both LCA's and sway bar links with Moog parts. Had an alignment done and they mentioned the rotors were a bit warped. Now they make a bunch of noise and the steering wheel vibrates/shakes when brakes are applied. Seems to get worse when there are 2 people in the car (?) I have new brakes and rotors, just got to get the strength to put them in (bad back, bad knees, etc) Loading the steering side to side doesn't make any noise, but applying brakes seems to trigger it. If I go light on the brakes, it isn't as bad. Just checking if I am still on the right track here with pads and rotors. 202K miles and rotors aren't grooved or anything, still a bit of the pads left (that I can see)

Still too many cars to work on and I lost my assistant for a while longer...

 

Be sure to keep the rear drums adjusted!!!!!!!!! That is why rotors warp.

 

New rear brakes and drums are on their way. hopefully the correct ones.... thanks for the reminder!

 

2006-2008 rear drums are different from 2009-2011.

 

I ordered for a 2006, and the number is different than the 2009, so maybe I got lucky??

Rear shoes and drums went on, I am not a fan of that single spring holding both shoes! Front shoe on bot side was paper thin! and they did have an adjuster so maybe they are working. Adjusted them with a light drag all the way around on both sides. Now for the fronts.... Had to take a break 88 degrees, better than 92 yesterday when I was putting front brakes and rotors on the TrailBlazer (wife's vehicle) Getting too old for this stuff!

** And found a loose sway bar link on drivers side. Pass side left to go... another break...and it hit 92 degrees outside.

 

Take a break and hydrate with water

 

They all "have" adjusters, they just don't work.
The front shoe does all of the work, the rear is just parking brake.

 

KInd of what it looks like. Fronts are soooo much easier than the rears, or maybe I am just used to them more. I really need a garage, or a driveway. doing this out on the street is twice as much work, then you got to haul the tools back inside, jack, jackstands, old drums, old rotors,pads, shoes, etc. Time for a nap!!

At least My tires look great!!no uneven wear!!

 

OK, here's a new one... drivers side rear brake started making noise, so I pulled it apart. found the adjuster had fallen off, and the spring had rubbed against the drum, I assume when backing up as it was not worn through, and the adjuster lever was not worn. My guess is the spring wasn't doing it's job and I did not want to reinstall it as it is damaged. I took the spring and lever off and put it back together. ow much trouble am I in if I leave it out?? I can order new parts but it may take a few days to arrive. Since they don't work anyhow. can I leave them out permanently? just asking for opinions. Other side looked fine. (figured I better check it )

drum surface looks like new, no wear marks or scratches. Shoes look good too.
