Rear Pads and Rotors Part Numbers

Since the dealer is giving me a hard time because I told them I rather do my brakes myself with the help of my ASE certified mechanic neighbor to save some money I was wondering if anyone could give me the OEM part numbers for the rear discs and brakes on a 2008 HHR SS. I do not have Brembos but I want to use either the OEM parts or if anyone has any recommendations on better parts to use.

Thank You.

OK, the GM PN for the pads is 10365723, or you can also use the Delco PN 171-0865 or 1710865.

The rotors are GM PN 22705356, or you can also use the Delco PN 177-0913 or 1770913.

Sorry your dealer is being a snot, but lots of them are sadly.

Do a search on "SS Brakes" and you'll find varied opinions on OEM versus brands like EBC, etc.

Thank You.. I have been trying to search but haven't really found anything to sway me away from the OEM parts just yet. I was trying to find the part numbers too but kept coming up empty.

Stupid question time though. The pad kit includes pads for both the rear wheels right? What about the rotor part number? Do they come in pairs? GMPartsdirect.com is not very descriptive.

Here's a great place for looking up OEM part numbers.....

http://parts.nalleygmc.com/

Just input make, model, year, and trim level. Then you're good to go.

Not sure if you are talking directly to the parts department or the service people but if your ARE NOT talking directly to the parts people then that is probably your issue with the lack of help.

I would take your vin number in with you and proceed directly to the parts counter and just say this :

"I need rear pads and rotors for my 09 HHR SS with vin number xxxxxxxxxxx" No more then that should be needed to get the ball rolling.

If you have multiple dealers like I do then call and ask for the parts departments and give them the same ONE LINER as above.

I asked this of the service writer when he called to tell me they had to keep my car another day because either they ordered the wrong part or got the wrong part delivered. I brought it in for warranty work and the few dealers in my area always seem hellbent on trying to tell me my car needs all these expensive services but when I have the car checked out by my step father who is an ASE certified mechanic for many years says otherwise. In fact the only dealership in my area that has never made me feel like I am the one that caused the damage to my car or doesn't try to sell me unnecessary services is Rockenbach Chevrolet. I think it is because they actually check the car out before they begin a sales speech on how I need that flushed and that cleaned out or that service done. It is a shame that they are almost 2 hours away from me but I have brought my car to them before for warranty repair work because more local dealers can never seem to find an issue.

I can understand why you asked the service advisor but now that you have your car just talk directly to the parts people and they shouldn't give any tude since they are not making money off the labor just the sales.

Also even though your car is in the shop, you can always walk over to the parts counter to ask directly.

Well when I picked up my car tonight I asked parts for pricing and part numbers on rotors and pads and this is what they gave me

Part# 22705356 - Rotor - QTY 2 - $183.96
Part# 10365723 - Pads - QTY 1 - $145.14

Same parts on GM Parts Direct

Part# 22705356 - Rotor - QTY 2 - $94.74
Part# 10365723 - Pads - QTY 1 - $74.75

Then they wonder why I want to do the work myself with the help of a mechanic in the family.

Ok Opinion Time

Would you stick with OEM GM Parts or would anyone have an opinion against going after market to save some money?

My youngest brother delivers parts for NAPA and insists that the NAPA parts are better than the GM Parts and Cheaper. He says he can get both Rotors and the Brake Pad kit for about $100 total.

Here are the NAPA part numbers he gave me.

Rotor Part Number - 880243
Pad Kit - AD-7937

Just curious if they are up to the same quality as the OEM or if anyone sees any complications from using these.
