Rear shocks for an HHR SS

So I ended up with one Sachs shock but decided on Bilsteins instead and purchased a pair of the one's recommended for all HHRs. My experience of Bilsteins in the past has been good so I was hopeful they would work out. At 102,000 miles I thought it was probably time. Went to put them on today and they are 1" longer than the Sachs I took off which are the same length as the generic Sachs I have. Anyone ever put Bilsteins on their car? Did you use P/N 24-118576?

So I asked Bilstein about this and got this response:

As our B6's are a Bilstein designed, tested, and tuned component, they may not be the exact length as OE shocks as our engineers have likely found that the shock being slightly longer delivers a better performing ride. You should be able to bush these in and slightly compress them enough to get them installed on your car with minimal effort. If you have any further questions, let me know. Thank you!

Back in the middle of the last century they published a book with all of the stats of each shock absorber. If we didn't have the correct part number in stock we would match what we had that was closest. I think that is what is going on; they quit making the exact one and consolidated part numbers.
