SS struts on a 2lt?
 

Hi everyone,
I have a 2006 HHR 2LT that needs struts. I would like to put the SS struts on it if possible. Has anyone done this? If so, where is the best place to buy them?

Complete struts are not available so you also would need springs & mounts and rear springs and shocks.

Many places sell "SS" struts, but if they say "fits all" they are incorrect. See the "commonly used parts" thread for GM part numbers. https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/comm...-thread-48833/

Go with a set of KYB struts and rear shocks.

X2 .... Can't imagine why you think you need SS Struts on your 2LT if it is stock.

His other 2 posts were inquiring about SS springs for sale. Guess he's trying for the SS suspension setup to put on his LT.

IIRC, Snoopy swapped his to SS so very long ago. Got a 3/4" drop + the handling improvement.

2011 2LT 46,000 miles, 2.4L Sawyer Tune
I put Cobalt lowering springs KYB Shocks on the rear and a TTR Rear sway bar. Got Much improved handling and a nice level profile.
I didn't have to touch the front.
Just today I was pushed by a Ford Explorer on a double S ... 4 lane with a down hill on one end and an uphill on the other end.
45 MPH speed limit. He let off at 65 as I left him behind with ease.

Less effort and less cost then switching to a complete SS change over ?

I actually took Your example with the exception I went for the softer Cobalt spring version.

The other benefit in using our choice instead of the SS system is the quality of the ride in comparison.

You do not have to sacrifice the ride quality.

However if you can justify the Absolute Need for the FE5 SS suspension, then yes ... Go For It.

Silverfox- I never knew that.. Or I've forgotten it.. But agree, didn't get a 2LT to ruin the ride quality..
