Suspension Popping/Clunking

And since it is an SS; somebody may have replaced the LCA already with the WRONG ones. The parts books ALL list the one with the too small ball joints. get a micrometer and measure the diameter of the ball joint studs; they should measure 20.5 MM. Or look at them, if they are black they are wrong, they should be cast aluminum.

Well, I don't know if I'd be looking at struts first. Just because they're not FE5, I don't know that they don't "fit". They may all have the same connectors, but give different ride quality, but not necessarily clunks or other noises.

ok I thought the struts not being FE5 would make a different and I didn't replace the strut mount. but I did spray some WD40 on my A frame bushing and the sway bar bushing and the top and the bottom of the strut and the popping stopped for a little but then came back do you think it could be one of those 3 things

Here's the Lower Control Arm(LCA). The bushing on the right usually wears out first. You should be able to move it around a bit and see if it's cracking or coming apart.
The top part is the ball joint that donbrew mentioned. If the LCAs have been replaced, high probability they are wrong and causing this issue, and are, in fact, unsafe.

the mounts on the strut is what i was thinking i didn't know you had to replace those when you replace the strut. so should i go ahead and but the FE5 strut on since i have to take it off anyways are keep the same strut and just replace the mounts.

He could keep the KYB's but,,, they aren't considered to be FE5 spec struts. Many discussions about FE5 struts in the past. Only known replacements are the OEM ones. Dealer item or I think Rock Auto has them.
The part numbers should be in our parts listing thread.

What I was thinking is that the FE5 shock part of the strut may be shorter than the FE1/FE3. Making the SS spring too short. I don't know for sure.
If the parts people would get their stuff together people would not have these problems.
