I think that the answer is that up till now GM has not offer a "tow package" as a factory option. This may be something a dealer is trying to sell and is just pitching it as an option. I have heard of no suspension that is "beefed up" for towing.

There are a few members here who have added hitches, you may want to try using the search function to find those threads. As active as this forum is, I'm sure someone would have posted is this were a new/planned factory option.

Page 4-39 of the owners manual:
"Your vehicle can tow a trailer if it is equipped with an automatic transaxel and the proper trailer towing equipment."

I would assume a hitch and wiring harness is a given but "proper towing equipment" tells me there may be other requirements not stated.

No modifications necessary at all. Any idea on the weight of the trailer?

there is one hole out of the four needed to drill/modify for the class one hitch, the max weight of trailer is 1,000 lbs with a tongue weight of 100 lbs.

There are a lot of threads on this forum about hitches.

Believe it or not most old Pop-ups are fairly heavy..... I have only found one so far that weighs less than 1000lbs, and it was a new one. Don't forget to add the weight of anything you are going to be storing in the trailer.

Mine gets pulled with the Silverado, it's an old rockwood that weighs 1250 empty and it is 17' with both bunks out, no water.

Be careful about only one hole needing to be made larger. Another hole was an issue also. I have an 09 and the rear drivers side hole (the passanger side one was listed in the instructions to enlarge) was slightly too small to fit the 1/2 inch bolt AND the thin wire pull on it. I had to "re-fish" in reverse with a coat hook to get the bolt AND the washer out of the frame to drill the hole larger. I had tried the bolt first from underneath and it did fit-but I did not realize the fish wire would cause a problem by adding thickness to the bolt threads. CHECK ALL HOLES FIRST and make a little larger if you think there will be a problem.
