Yes, PulpFriction, the solenoid inside the assembly is what the mechanic said ... and also said it could be the wiring and pins (bad connection, either inside or outside) hence why he said it probably needed to be fully replaced. and again, i dont have that kind of money for one of those.... quoted 495 for the wiring harness and 500 to put it in .... ((not a stereo wiring harness))

If he had it for more than 3 hours he didn't do anything but read the codes. And it sat. Then he gave you a crazy estimate to run you away.
That happened to me with an OBD1 p/u truck that came out of the body shop with a CEL. I read the flashes and took it back to get the MAF replaced, they had to take it to a dealer to get the flashes read. The dealer sat on the car for 2 solid weeks before somebody got around to shorting the 2 pins and counting flashes. 2 days later the MAF was replaced.

I still can't figure out what "harness he would replace for $1000 or how it could be bad. I would have to see burned up wires first.
