SS axles+brake calipers+fuel pump

Still, if someone wanted to do it, and did their research, it may be possible. For example, someone with a supercharged 2.4. Then again, it would probably be easier and cheaper to just have custom axles built.

I too can confirm the GM8206 CV axle works in an automatic SS. I own 3 Auto SS cars and one stick shift. My kid crashed one of the auto SSs and I needed to get a new CV axle for the passenger side. When I yanked what was left of the OE axle out, it looked like this:
The transmission end is a male 27 spline shaft. The GM8206 axle is a female 27 splined socket and wasn't going to work for me. So, I set out to find an axle that fit. Many axle comparisons and purchases later, I gave up looking for a new one. So, I pulled one out of my other SSs and was going to use it. As I was about to install it, I felt the male transmission side shaft jiggle and clunk ever so slightly. So, I looked closer and realized it is a stub shaft that is splined on both ends and is removable:
So, I went and bought a GM8206 axle from my local O'Reilly's and it worked flawless. Cost me $83.
So, for future mechanics reading this, if the splined stub shaft between the CV and the 4T-45 differential comes out with the CV axle, go ahead and pop it out and install it in your new GM8206 CV axle and all will be right with the world.
Sheesh, what a goat rodeo this was, but it just goes to show, you're never too old to learn something new...🙄
Sincerely,
Robert

It's absolutely possible. The LT/LS hubs, lower control arms, spindles and axles are physically different. Everything else will work. To go true FE5, you'd need the springs, struts sway bar and sway bar bushings as well, but the FE3 stuff would technically "work".
I have a salvage SS that I'm going to use as a donor to build myself a Panel SS. Hopefully I can find a cheap LS Panel with a blown motor so I can build a proper Panel SS - complete with FE5 suspension, LNF engine and SS interior. Number 297 of 296 manufactured... 👍
Cheers,
Robert
