Steering wheel coil clockspring

Hello everyone!, i need help with a compatibility issue: recently the ribbon cable inside the clockspring coil of my steering wheel in my 2007 2.4 LT HHR broke, (the part number of the one inside my car is 15908917)... so, my mechanic (autorized chevy dealer) removed it, and the dealer is quoting me the equivalent of $200 US dlls just for the part (wich the dealerships says should be part #20940100), wich I googled around 100 us dlls, but, since I'm in Mexico just the shipping can be overkill if you dont look around.
After much investigation, I´ve found a seller for that sells me a "compatible part" (allegedly GM Original) for $60 dlls including shipping from mexico to mexico, but its a different part number: 15895990

My question to the wisemen is: would I be ok buying the part Number 15895990 to replace part number 15908917?
Thanks in advance

If you check the part compatibility chart it fits the HHR

https://www.ebay.ca/itm/New-Original...-/141835985417

Here it’s not confirmed

Thanks for the reply
I did see that compatibility chart, and indeed the part number is in the list, but, just to double check I introduced the information in the drop-down menus above the chart and it said there that it wasn't compatible, so that threw me off, my mechanic (Chevrolet dealership), says that they look the same from the photographs, so I'm inclined to go ahead with the purchase.

The only listing I can find anywhere for 15895990 is on eBay and their compatibility chart says YES,
gmpartsdirect.com says 20940100 fits 2006 - 2011.

So, my non-professional opinion is yes. If it fits 1 year it fits all years and it depends on where they are getting the part number. gmpartsdirect.com does not list either of the other 2 numbers at all.

Lots of used 15908917 are listed for around $25. Seems to be the same as Cobalt, G5, Ion etc. Used should be fine BUT you need to rewind it correctly.

How could it have broken? Only way I know it disconnecting the steering shaft from the steering gear and spinning the steering wheel.

Only thing I can think of is radio controls might not have a connection. I believe you’ll be fine, it’s been several years since I had mine apart

I think they changed the pin positions sometime, either the radio controls or the cruise conmtrol.

Thanks, guys, I'll go ahead with the purchase
I recently changed all of the clutch kit, after losing pressure and changing both master and slave cylinder, (not Chevrolet dealership), Its my suspicion that during the taking down of the transmission, maybe they overturned the wheels or the transmission shaft (if that's possible), forcing the steering wheel to turn farther than the clockspring would allow causing the ribbon cable to snap inside
After I received my car and checked that the clutch and shifts where ok, I noticed a crackling sound inside the steering wheel, and I didn't have any horn or cruise controls, so I took it to the dealership and when the mechanic opened the steering wheel all the ribbon cable popped out like a jack in the box!, my mechanic almost crapped his pants, lol! ----- this came out:

Right now the mechanic took out the cable and reinstalled everything else, the car is running and turning perfectly so I can use it until I get the part, except I don't have any horn, cruise controls, and the turn sign lever doesn't return on its own.
I'll update this thread when the part is installed
thanks again!
