2009 HHR Problems after jumpstarting another car

So my wife left her dome light on and drained her battery. I jumped started her now I'm getting multiple messages, no speedometer, and the car wont shift out of 1st gear. In the message center it says "service ESC" ,"Service traction" ," ESC off" & "power steering" (power steering is working)
OBDWIZ comes back with a permanent code U0101 Lost communications with TCM. The TCM fuse ? #43 under the hood is good ECM fuse # 25 in pass compartment is also good. did I fry the TCM? I did not realize that I connected the negative jumper cable to the TCM case (I couldn't find any bare metal under the hood)

Update

On the possibility that I melted the ground wire on the TCM I temporarily grounded the case of the TCM to a bodyground and amazingly the message center alerts disappeared !! (its typical I found the hidden negative jumper cable lug after I messed it all up) I will have to connect something more permanent before a test drive
. Should I ground the TCM to the body or the ECM case

Fix the ground wire that’s attached to the driver’s side strut tower and or any other ground wires that are loose or corroded

Hidden negative jumper cable lug ?
There is no such thing.

Jumping instructions say to ground the negative jumper cable to the strut tower bolt stud.
Sounds like you may have grounded to a positive connection. Not good.

I'd look at that module board.

Where exactly did you connect the jumper wires?

Read your Owner Manual (link in my sig for free Owner Manual). It has the proper jump starting directions in it.
You are terribly misinformed.

Not paying attention I connected the negative jumper cable to the TCM case (it was 5:00 am I was half asleep wife was trying to get to work)
which must have melted the ground wire on the TCM harness. I see now that the case isn't grounded/bolted to the body. With the temp grounding wire its working as it did before
not prefect but working which leads to my next question...
Has anyone replaced the shift solenoids on their HHR. I have intermittent issues with the car not shifting into overdrive usually goes away after 20 minutes or so of driving. I ran the codes says shift solenoids I've seen on YouTube videos of it being done on a Chevy cobalt without removing the transmission or dropping the K-member
I was hoping this could be done to our cars. I plan on replacing all three solenoids and the filter as my car has 260,000 miles on it

There are threads about changing the transmission shift solenoids.
