Auto SS Axle Shafts

Does anyone know the inner and outer spline count on the axle shafts for an auto SS. I think I have a bad CV joint in one of mine. I have a terrible vibration that keeps getting worse and I know the last time I was under my car changing the oil I was checking things out and had some sloppiness with the inner cv joint. Not sure if anyone else has had vibration issues with their SS but thought it might be worth the shot of asking.

If you mean in/out sloppiness, that is normal. Up/Down, front/back is badish. The inner end is a "tri-pot slip joint" that is designed to slide in/out an inch or 2.

Hubs would be my first guess, bad CVs click in slow turns.

But, what does this have to do with spline count? You just specify the car at the parts store, get rebuilt, they are better than new. Make sure there are same number of folds on the boots or they will fail.

I know how cv joints click and pop on slow turns, I did take auto mechanics in high school even though its not my profession I do know some stuff about cars. If you goto any auto parts store website and look up axle shafts for the HHR, they show them to be all the same and I have read some where that the SS axle's are different.
