I'm not implying this is sure thing, but we've all had our own "Duh" moments when working on cars.
anything is possible in the automotive world. I don’t think it’s the case here though. I’m tryin to find a used tranny to get a picture of before I start ripping on things haha.

Well, it isn't supposed to be there. The sleeve on the stub is supposed to go through the seal all the way.

If you took the stub shaft off the axle and installed it would look just like the driver side.

Looking at your post #2, it looks like the there is contact with the bolt below the opening. I'll ask again, what part numbers are you using?

Looks like a spider gear setup like you would have in a differential.

No CV installed. Stub shaft is “clipped in.” Can’t get the seal in any further as it hits the inner steel race. Also as you can see the shaft is pulling down on the seal causing the gap on the top of the seal. Everything in installed the two seals got perfect together. Fairly snug fit (no gap.) anyone know how much play is considered “okay” on that transmission output shaft??

That is the drivers side in your picture. But this is my issue. I physically can’t slide in the stub shaft seal any further without hitting the internal steel raceway/sleeve.

How much more does it have to go in ?
Are you talking 1/8 inch ?
You could sand down the back of it.
Use a flat plate, use contact glue spray and put fine aluminium oxide paper on it and work the piece in a figure 8 to bring the size down.
Just a thought.
