How do you know when a clutch needs replaced?

Well, my mechanics took for it a drive and they don't think it's a clutch. Apparently the rpm fluctuation when it does it makes them think would be an engine problem.

Scheduled an appt with the local chevy dealer. I'd almost rather have a power train problem, honestly. At least then I don't have to pay for it

Hi, just wondering what your mechanic found for problem?
Personally cant see engine overevving while in gear and in motion.
My HHR has same symptoms and im changing clutch.
Got a good price on the clutch kit on e-bay. Well known brand.
good luck
Thanks, Jerry
