Traction control off light

Intermittently the No traction control light, TC with the circle and slash through it, will come on. No rhyme or reason. When the light is on the automatic transmission shifts hard, with a jerk. If I shut the car off for a minute it clears. Any thoughts. One shop so far has no clue. I would like to change the fluid, but it doesn't seem you can do that. Car is an 06 with 140k . Love the car, but this is a nuisance. Any thoughts.

Most likely have a trouble code stored. Is the Check Engine Light on ? Even if not on, you still need to pull the codes to see what's triggering it.

Huh ? Why not. Like any other car, you just drop the pan then replace the filter and fluid. There is no dipstick so you will have to refill it using the correct procedure.

Traction Control

Just changed the air filter and spark plugs. Did no other service. As I drove away, the "TC" light came on. Hmmm....

Did you plug the connector for the MAF sensor back in?

Yes, but I did start the car before I remembered it. Shut the car off, plugged the MAF in, light still on. Will I have to clear the code out of memory?

Well, two days later the car acted-up again, but this time the tach and most warning lights were going crazy, along with no electric power steering boost. It wouldn't restart like before. I had it towed to my AAA Auto Club-rated repair shop. It was an overcharging voltage regulator in the alternator. It fried the battery too. So, a new alternator and new battery. Oh btw, after about 45 minutes it did start up when on the tow truck's hook. All seemed back to normal at that point. Ha ha, it wasn't of course.

How many different problems are going on in this thread? If you are having a problem please start a thread with all of your specifics. "My problem is similar" is rarely a true statement, if it was then one of the thousands of threads on this site would address it and the fix.
