Transmission

I had a friend ask me how well the HHR transmission held up. Although my 06 was traded away in 2015 with 133,000 miles on the clock I had no issues with my transmission. His HHR has more mileage and has been used as a delivery car. He was debating on repairing which may cost $2000(?) or replacing the car ($15,000). Any ideas?

Both of mine were used for delivery work and the trans was the very last of my worries at over 300K.

My math says repair; even adding a new motor(about $5,000) and completely overhaul the suspension (about $2,000) is less than new. A courier needs to keep cost close to zero, he would need to save a lot on gas cost to make up the difference.

I’m over 250,000 miles , no transmission problems, I’m with Don, rebuild the transmission

there are plenty of low mile parts out there just find a honest repair shop i charge 300. labor to r & r a motor or trans , plus cost of the parts so its not that bad and they are very easy to do ,

I'd do a swap as per hellshotrod - I bet a repair will be a lot more than $2K.
