inspiration: mad max, johnny mnemonic, rat rods, JDM/USDM interior: nascar, dragsters
the car will not be sold, so loss of monetary value is irrelevant.
paint: first time i saw a grey primer car i knew if i ever owned a car it would be that color. its also a rejection of the consumerist idea that it has to be pretty and shiny, sorta what rat rods were.
i love open wheeled cars, so there went the front fenders (wanted to do this the first time i saw an HHR.)
not much mods enginewise, hope for flex fuel upgrade* or electric conversation, plus I'm broke. I'd like to drop the back (cobalt ss/sc or ss/tc coils). thinking about cutting front springs. lots of ideas just depends what can be scrounged up. (i have 3 kids one of which is special needs, i wont spend any real money on this.)
anyone who understands power to weight ratio will tell you there is no substitute for weight lose. so i removed everything i found frivolous. removed carpet, sound proofing, most of the plastic. this will improve breaking among other things, not by much but every little bit helps.
things that stayed: all safety features are intact, including airbags. except on the driver and front passenger door panels had a chunk of foam at about hip level. so if i end up with a broke hip, jokes on me. only codes are power steering, hope to rectify this next financial aid check (respiratory therapy student). radio, interested in a lighter option. air conditioning, its AZ.
unexpected bonuses: don't loose my car in a parking lot and people don't mess with me on the road anymore.
the "grill" amuses me but i think i'll get bored of it soon. i'll just yank it off.
the intent is to have to car unfinished i hate the idea that it would ever be done. it is a complete car in that its a car and does car stuff. functionally the same as it was.
hate it (most do), love it (i do), or laugh at it (this is the preferred reaction, its funny)
