I have tried Mobil, BP and Hess which are all close to me and so far the car seems to act best on Hess. I do also have BJ's gas nearby (worked well with last car) as well as Valero, Sunoco (which worked well on my last car but haven't tried to yet on the HHR), Citgo, Shell and a few other off brand names.

Shell V-Power Premium 93 Octane.

I just don't bother looking at the price of gas anymore, not a damn thing you can do about it, so why bother.

I hit under a 1/4 tank and i'm looking for a Shell station to fill er up.

I mostly use Shell, sometimes will use a discount station both 91 octane but notice the Shell will idle so quiet and runs smoother, diffrence about $0.25 a gallon.

I have been using Mobil because it is close. 2x now I have used BP and noticed about a 2 mpg increase each time. Need to find nearest BP

I used Sunoco Ultra 93 for a few years in my '08 SS that's equipped with the GM Turbo Upgrade kit. I switched to Hess and Quick Check for a while to save a few pennies and experienced a couple of intermittent PO300 codes that were self-clearing. Went back to Ultra 93 and have not seen the codes come back, so I'm staying with what works and doesn't cause my SS the "sniffles".

What do you think about octane boosters? If a person wants to run 93-95 and locally only have 91 max to chose from would adding a decent brand octane booster, all of which contain MMTs just like the Shell V-power premium has, be safe?

Right now we are using E85 as it is 60 - 65 cents cheaper then regular gas around by me. I know there is some many debates over E85 vs 87 but really cant complain over a 65 cents savings per gallon.

From the Owners Manual......for your perusal (YOUR car, YOUR choice)

Gasoline Specifications

At a minimum, gasoline should meet ASTM

specification D 4814 in the United States or

CAN/CGSB

3.5 or 3.511 in Canada. Some

gasolines contain an octane-enhancing additive called

methylcyclopentadienyl manganese tricarbonyl (MMT).

We recommend against the use of gasolines containing

MMT. See

Additives on page 67 for additional

information.

Not sure you are correct about Shell and the use of MMT, since all U.S. vehicle manufacturers recommend NOT to use it.
