Can I used E-87 Ethanol

Okay I was wondering since I have the 2.2l engine does that mean I can use the E-87 fuel. My gas cap isn't yellow and usually cars that can have a yellow cap for this. I heard you can save gas with that fuel but don't want to try it unless I'm sure I can use that fuel. Any Ideas.

Unless you have the FlexFuel badge on the back, you can't use E85. The 06 is not FlexFuel.

Somewhere on the forum, ChevyMgr mentioned that they had to change a lot of the plastic and rubber parts in the fuel system for E85, including the gas tank. (If I recall correctly) so No, I wouldn't even try....... a melting, soggy gas tank would not be a good idea......

Also, you heard wrong about saving gas using E-85. You will actually use more. Ethanol has higher octane than gas, but less available energy. So do the same amount of work, you'll burn more of it.

What is E-87? Do you mean 87 octane fuel or E-85? I've never heard of E-87. I'm thinking you just made a typo, but maybe I'm wrong.

i was wondering this myself.

yes, you can use 87 octane gas non ethanol or E10 in a 2006 2.2L.

no, you cannot use E85 gas in a 2006.

That wasn't me that posted that. But I can tell you if you put E-85 in a non E-85 engine it will not run or it will barely run and you will be out the money to have it flushed out of the fuel system, typically over $300.

I believe it is around 75% of the power/energy of normal gasoline (including 10% ethanol) so if E-85 is not at least 25% cheaper than regular gasoline you are spending more money for it in the long run, because it burns faster.

No foul, no harm. Maybe I did post that on one of those 2:00 a.m. posts where I using poop for brains and beer for energy.

yea, my Town & Country is E-85 equiped, ran 4 tanks through it for testing got horrible gas mileage. My milage went for 18 a gallon down to like 13, and my distance for travel went form like 310 miles a tank to barely 240. wont be using that sutff again, especially since it is only ten cents cheaper than regular 87 octane.
