That's not what I meant, but now I know that there is a specific gravity sensor thingy, and that the 2.4 uses something other than regular. That was my question, I thought that the only difference was the compounds used in the seals, now I have learned something!

Actually running gasoline in a diesel engine is an incredibly worse literal melt down than just gumming the spark plugs up by running diesel in a gas engine. I have witnessed a diesel engine "running" on gasoline, not a pretty sight involving fire engines and rescue squads.

The barely visible point of the comment was that "fuel injector cleaner" is Jet Fuel (diesel). Jet A is basically fuel oil filtered better and tested better and dyed a different color. In days of yore, we would dribble diesel fuel into the carburetor to clean the system out.

Actually Jet A fuel is a super refined kerosene base with assorted hydrocarbon additives, it has another variation known as Jet A-1 which lowers the freezing point of the fuel from -40C to -47C.

Jet B is the extreme cold weather version of the fuel composed of a naphtha-kerosene base with cold weather additives, its capable of use down to -60C, but its extreme volatility makes it rare to find outside of the Arctic or Iceland.

We'll avoid the military JP series of jet fuels and also aviation diesel for the sake of simplicity, since there are now six military jet fuels and two classes of aviation diesel.

This concludes your fuel refresher from Pilot Mike.

You will NEVER get what the ratings say

Must be how you drive. I only loose 2.5 miles per gallon on the E85. Right now E85 is only 3.15 vs regular unleaded at 3.99. Worth it for me, maybe not for everyone. Works well with all the traffic I'm in daily, even with AC on.

E85 Price 3.15 E85 MPG 23
Gas Price 3.99 Gas MPG 25.5

E85: Best$0.137 per mile
7.302 miles per $

Gas: $0.156 per mile
6.391 miles per $
