My first real mileage check...

Hi all.

I did my first mileage check from fill to fill.

We have a 07 2LT with the 2.4 and the 4 spd auto.

My wife did 425.9 Kms (264.64 miles)
put in 45.27litres( 11.96 gal)

That's 10.63 l/100k or 22 miles per gallon.

This is almost all city driving and short trips to work at that....which is the worst for economy....so not bad.

On the way home from where I get gas its a nice long cruise at 90 k....the economy gauge was saying 7.6 l/100k. That's 31 miles per gallon. If I get that on the highway I would be pretty happy about that.

Also been on regular 87 since we bought it, so have not tried it on premium 89 or 92 yet......

Cheers.

Corey.

Remarkably, that's almost exactly what I recognized, last night, on my last fill. Driven under the same circumstances......22.8 mpg. I do use 89 octane however.

My 2.4 gets 23-26 on premium, I think my visor don't help, but I like looking at it.

Second mileage check done. A bit better with same driving habits. 24.6 mpg on a whole tank. Ran the gauge right down to the red this time......won't go that far again....bad for the fuel pump.
Still using 87 too.

I bought5 a 2011 2.4l about 3 weeks ago. I filled up the gas tank immediately. Since that time we have driven about 1830 miles. total gas used is 66.7 gal. MPG =27.43. Much of our diving has been on 2 trips, one about 200 mileseach way, and the last into southern Ontario one way about 325 miles. We traded a 2004 Chrysler PT turbo-lite. The HHR is much better on gas!! I once averaged the PT for about 20,000 miles at 22.5 mph. I record all fill ups. I started that when you could use your gas tax as a deduction on your income tax. I didn't find out until after I had the HRR for about a week that they recommend high test gas for the 2.4l. I have only used regular so far. I have not noticed and pr0blems. I do not push my car and stay close to the speed limit
