A Picture of My MPG
I took a "speed" run up to motor city casino detroit (i don't gamble, just went up with friends, and took advantage of the $99 room=75% off normal rate) and had a dic average speed of
77mph for the 160 or so miles. Do you have any idea what i what speeds you need to drive to get a 77mph average? LOL
I was trying to catch my friends who left 15 minutes before I did , I had them call out the HWP/Cops at the mile markers, so i could slow down before I got my ticket. That was the only reason I didnt get 3 tickets.

PS: My Corvette averaged over 10 mpg for that trip also.
I love seeing the charts with the details. These are true real world averages. The OP stated that they had a lead foot, so I was wondering what everyones avg hwy speeds are? City driving really brings down the avg on the DIC, so could those of you with the charts let us know what your avg HIGHWAY speeds are, not DIC avg.
I have kept track of my mileage on long trips and noticed that even a few MPH over 70 greatly reduces MPG. I can get an honest 30MPG if I keep it at 70MPH, and as much as 32MPG if held at 66MPH. I always run 93 octane (pure gas w/o ethanol). Mostly flat roads here in Michigan.
One other note, the wind effects this mileage a lot as well. With a moderate head wind I can deduct 2- 3 MPG and with a tail wind I can gain 2 -3 MPG. Of coarse round trip it averages out, but many of my trips are over several days and I rarely see the wind consistent on both legs of my trips.

That drive started my MILD hypermile obsession.
SS stock, 36psi in all 4 tires, flat ground, no wind, no hills, smooth road, 75 degress and sunny, you should see 36 at 55ish, 34ish at 60 32ish at 65, 29ish at 70, and then down rapidly
I drove from Cleveland to Cincinnati in the first month i owned my SS, I had under 3000 miles when i started the trip. I left it on cruise at 60 the entire way. 4 hour drive 36 mpg dic, avg speed was 58 dic. The only thing I did was hold in on the clutch for any hills that I could glide and maintain 60mph. That didnt happend very often as it is a very flat drive.

I don't see me getting 30+ even on the highway around here even doing 60MPH because there are just too many hills here in Western Washington. Yeah, some aren't very steep but its enough.
I'll go post my DIC, I haven't reset it in six months and see how it checks up my numbers in the average from the spreadsheet.
