Premium fuel v. Regular Unleaded

I have a 2010 SS. Should I be using premium gasoline or will regular unleaded suffice? Pro/Cons??
Thanks!!

I go by the premium recomended means use it. You are running forced induction you should spend the little extra for premium gas to get the most out of the vehicle and the proformence.

I was using regular in my SS for some time. I switched to premium and felt like I gained 30 H.P. It is an amazing difference....I will never put regular in again.

Thanks guys, seems like a no brainer. I guess having never owned a 'high performance' vehicle...It didn't cross my mind tell a buddy questioned me on it. I need to fill up again by tomorrow, afterwards I'll post back to see if I felt a difference.

WOW...really is a difference! Sweet.

54,000 miles, Never a drop of regular. 93 oct min. for every mile. :batman:

With a forced induction engine, you really need to use premium. It might run on regular but more than likely you're going to get detonation due to the low octane (and increased cylinder pressure and temperature due to boost) and set the knock sensor off. This will cause the ECU to pull timing and then you're not getting all of the performance you paid for. Worst case, if the knock sensor goes bad and the detonation is bad enough you could damage pistons and valves. You paid for a performance vehicle, it's worth the extra at the pump to put the premium in. You'll enjoy the difference.:thumb:

For a standard 2.2 4cyl, what should you use?

For non-turbo car you should be fine using regular.

Would premium hurt it, using that once in a while?
