“Auto Light On” doesn’t work.

The “Auto Light On” function of my HHR function is not working properly.

If I set it to “Turns on the headlamps, parking lamps, and taillamps. “, these lights illuminate. However they still remain ON when I lock my car.

If I set it to “Turns on the parking lamps and taillamps only. “, parking lamps and taillamps illuminate. However they still remain ON when I lock my car.

If I set it to “AUTO”, all lights turn off, even though it displays “Auto Light On” or “Auto Light Off”.

I have cleaned the light sensor on top of the instrument panel.

I also checked the following fuses and they are in good condition.

31 Daytime Running Lamps

63 Driver Side High-Beam

65 Driver Side Low-Beam

66 Passenger Side Low-Beam

67 Passenger Side High-Beam

Anybody else have this issue before? Please let me know how to fix it. Thank you.

Thank you. I will check the multiswitch. My HHR has a problem with battery drain. Do you think that might be related?

The left headlamp doesn't work now and I will replace it. The year is 2011. The problem just happened recently. My HHR has a problem with battery drain. Do you think that might be related? Thanks.

It’s very plausible the switch is the problem.

Do the DRLs work or not? That is low beams/no tails during day light, when AUTO is selected.

The DRLs don't work. Both low beam lights and tail lights don’t illuminate during daylight when AUTO is selected.

I would consider the light sensor or wiring to it.
