There are 3 relays: DRL, low beams and high beams. They are all "hot at all times". The BCM supplies a ground signal to energize them. I can't think of anything that would affect all 3.
The headlights are supposed to stay on after key off; if "auto" is selected they turn off after a short time automatically, if "on" is selected they stay on until the battery dies.
Any thing worked on when this started?
Do the interior lights dim out after key out? Does the radio stay on for a short time? Has any one messed with the DIC settings?

As to battery drain: is anything left plugged into the cig lighters? They are always hot.

Thanks. I will check the light sensor and wiring.

Good question.

When I tested the fuses(after starting the car) of the Floor Console Fuse Block, and all fuses except Fuse28(Steering Wheel Control Illumination) had power. I tested the resistance of the fuse28 and confirmed it was connected.

I also tested all the fuses in the Engine Compartment Fuse Block(excluding the relays) and they were in good conditions.

I'm just operating the Driver Information Center (DIC) normally.

I rarely drive, only on weekends for shopping. Due to a battery drain issue, I bought a solar panel and connected it to the cigarette lighter when not driving. This has reduced the battery drain.

Instrument panel often dims and I am not sure if it is because of battery drain. I seldom listen to the radio but it works fine.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks.

If I set it to “Turns on the headlamps, parking lamps, and taillamps. “, these lights illuminate. However they still remain ON when I lock my car
That is normal.
If I set it to “Turns on the parking lamps and taillamps only. “, parking lamps and taillamps illuminate. However they still remain ON when I lock my car.
also normal.
If I set it to “AUTO”, all lights turn off, even though it displays “Auto Light On” or “Auto Light Off”.
Depends on the ambient light and gear selector. Normal if in park or neutral.

The DRLs only come on when the trans is in gear and in AUTO. DRL is low beams no tails.
Lights only turn off or change from DRL to driving automatically when in AUTO.
Locking has nothing to do with it. It is opening then closing the driver door, then the map lights dim out and the radio turns off and the headlights turn off after a minute or so..

The dashboard lights react to the ambient light in complicated ways.
Is the dome light turned to "on"? Any door sensors stuck? Any CEL? Was the battery disconnected recently? Codes reset? Any LED lights?
Here are a couple of the hundreds on Youtube:

Are you sure it's a battery drain issue? It might be a I don't drive it enough to recharge the battery issue, or a poor charging system issue. Loose connection at alternator, Serpentine Belt and/or tensioner.

Thank you for your videos and explanation.

I put transmission in gear(Driving or Neutral) and set the multiswitch lever to “Auto", but the DRLs still aren't working. It's probably because the sunlight is too strong today. Tomorrow I'll cover the light sensor with a plastic bag and test the DRLs again.

The left headlamp of my HHR was broken and I have already ordered a new one. Hopefully, the situation will improve after I replace it.

You're right. I usually only drive my car on the weekends, about 20 kilometers a week. I replaced the battery three years ago, but after a year I found low battery issue and sometimes it was difficult to start it in Winter. Then I went to the auto store to replace another one. However, the same problem appeared again after one more year. I asked an auto shop and was told that I didn't drive enough. The alternator of my car charges the battery at over 14.8 volts when I start it.

You might nose around a bit, see if anyone's been monkeying with the wiring, especially for a trailer hitch electrical connector.

Sunlight won’t affect the DRL from coming on. Check the relays and fuses in the under hood fuse box.

https://fuse-box.info/chevrolet/chev...uses-and-relay

Here’s a map of their locations. Push them in firmly and tighten the 4 bolts.

Thank you for your information and suggestion.
I have tested all fuses in the Engine Compartment Fuse Block and the Floor Console Fuse Block. All fuses are in good condition and only the Fuse28(Steering Wheel Control Illumination) socket of the Floor Console Fuse Block has no power. Next step I will test the lamp-related relays and multi-switch you mentioned before.
