That looks like you may get some real light from it. Unless you get into the wiring harness, it would not come on as a "dome light" when doors are opened, rather a reading/map light that would have to be manually turned on and off, but still much better when you need it!
If anyone gets a price on this, let us know.

Anyone else think its ugly?

I'm not saying I wouldn't change it out in my wife's if someone find out that the switch can be done easily, but I won't be putting it in mine.

BTW, for those who are worried about lighting the window switches, just back light them. I did and it's a real easy mod.

I really can't say I have ever really worried about how a done light lookd like.

But now that you mention it the one I have now is not only useless but ugly.

i'd like to have one ,

but i think i would like it mounted behind my sunroof. i'm not a real vanity type person , but this mourning , on my route , about 6am i thought i might comb my hair , since i got it cut yesterday , for the 1st time in 2 months. i turned on both map lights - on the rear view mirror , and found that i still could not see my fresh haircut. it would surely be a bit more tricky to mount , but maybe worth it-if you ever drive in the dark. and wnt to check your new do , before the sun comes up.

if i need light in the cabin i usually just turn the little knob that controls the dimming of the interior lights all the way to the right until it clicks all the lights and the rear dome on in the car. Only way i can get enough light to do something.

If I need light I build a small fire in my cup holder. Sometimes I feel like I need to. I can't even use the glow from the lighter since I did not get one of those either.

My SS is the worst interior lighting I have seen in any car. Even in the 60's most GM cars had footwell lights.

anyone have a picture of an non-sunroof dome light out of an 09? i'd like tosee what it looks like without the switches, since i wouldn't need them. i suppose i could put aux switches in there to control random stuff...now to come up with something to operate with switches...

switches for the rocket launchers and the oil squirter out the back, right? Do it up James Bond style.
